Simbarashe is the Chief Operating Officer of CBZ Bank Agro Yield, one of the largest agriculture financing institutions in Africa. CBZ Bank Agro Yield is a subsidiary of Zimbabwe listed CBZ Holdings, the largest financial services group in Zimbabwe. Simba manages a US$350 million portfolio that supports over 30,000 farmers across various value chains, including grains, livestock, citrus, and horticulture. Under his leadership, the portfolio has enabled Zimbabwe to produce over 2 million metric tons of wheat, maize, and soya from 2020 to 2023, making it one of the few countries in Africa to achieve such success. The efforts led by Simbarashe have been recognized globally with efforts underway to replicate the success in other African countries.
Simbarashe began his career in the equities division at Goldman Sachs in New York where he advised global multi-strategy hedge funds managing up to USD 2 billion in assets. In Africa he went on to advise on several significant transactions involving fortune 500 companies in the agribusiness, telecoms, finance and FMCG sectors. Simbarashe has been a keynote speaker at the World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington DC.
He is a regular on BBC World Business News commenting on African Capital Markets and Africa - China Trade and Debt dynamics. Simbarashe is the founder of the Addis Ababa based African Youth Commission, a youth advocacy organization. He sits on several boards in Africa.
Simbarashe has a bachelor’s in finance (BBA) from Howard University in Washington DC and master’s in business administration (MBA) from London Business School in the United Kingdom.
