Savera Awuley is an MPhil candidate in Criminological Research whose primary research focuses on problematic gambling and white-collar crimes. She is a member of the Sidney Sussex college and currently the Criminology Liaison Officer for the Cambridge University Graduate Law Society (CUGLS) where she represents the Institute of Criminology in decision making and facilitating communication at the faculty level.
Savera earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where she also demonstrated leadership as the Financial Secretary for the Sociology Students Association (SocSA-KNUST) during the 2021/22 academic year.
She also served as the Deputy General Secretary for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS-KNUST), demonstrating strong organisational and administrative skills.
Outside of her academic pursuits, Savera finds joy in engaging in debates, sharing her knowledge through teaching, and exploring nature through hiking. These activities not only provide her with opportunities for intellectual stimulation and personal growth but also allow her to connect with others and the environment in meaningful ways.
