Angela Sughnen

Angela Sughnen is an Agricultural and food security enthusiast, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Crop Science at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Nigeria. She is currently a MasterCard foundation scholar, studying for an MPhil in Biological Science at the Crop Science centre, University of Cambridge.

She has a passion for solving the worlds food crisis with scientific innovations, her current research seeks to establish the virus induced genome editing system in crops of economic importance.

Angela has a keenness for impacting knowledge, she works with the Cambridge Africa Mentorship Program (CAMP) where she volunteers as a mentor for prospective African students to the university of Cambridge, as a transformative leader seeking to bring sustainable solutions to Africa’s food crisis, she’s alongside her MPhil enrolled at the Cambridge Institute for sustainable leadership where she is developing leadership action plan to drive sustainable change.

For the 2024 Cambridge Africa Conference, she volunteers as the team lead for the Branding and Publicity team.

In her free time, she loves to whisper to characters and escape reality page by page into the imaginary world of books.
